Hello. My name is Hannah.

I am a very sporty person who also loves academics. I am passionate about high jump and mathematics.

I am a global citizen who has traveled across the world experiencing many cultures. I fluently speak, read and write English, Japanese and French with basic German and Mandarin.

My goal is to challenge myself in sport every term and to excel at academics to build on my current skills to prepare me to make the greatest contribution to society.

With the advances of technology, I really believe that communication and collaboration will be critical skills for everyone and here, I believe sport is the ultimate teacher.

Being a Sports Person

I am a serious sports person who gives 100% effort all the time. I have played a good variety of sports since I was a child. Track & field, tennis, rugby, football, netball, swimming, basketball, baseball, cricket, snowboarding and skiing are all sports that I have played for numerous years and achieved many awards and recognition.

For the past two years I have focused on athletics track and field especially on high jump. What I like about athletics is its simplicity. I find I can constantly improve by putting all my energy into refining my technique and keeping a positive outlook. I am an active member of my schools team and have received multiple awards.

For the winter season, I love skiing whenever I have the opportunity. The slalom downhill race is a real adrenaline rush. At the annual competition I was awarded first and second for the past two years.

Soccer is another sport that I enjoy especially the team aspect of collaborating with all members. I have learnt so much from these experiences that will help me for years to come.

Being a Global Citizen

My father is British, born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa. My mother is Japanese, born and raised in Japan. I was born and spent my first 12 years in Hong Kong.

I grew up as a 'normal mixed-race child' in Hong Kong and have been fortunate to have friends from all over the world.

Annie, our Labradoodles joined our family with years ago and has remained a great friend to me over the years.

Since I was a little girl, we have travelled to many different parts of the world. Japan, England and Switzerland, but also Africa, Ecuador, Hawaii and Finland. Being exposed to the diverse nature and culture in each country, embracing diversity has become part of me.

I also love languages and speak English and Japanese at home and a lot of French at school, so I appreciate being able to speak, read and write these languages fluently. I also have basic skills in German and Chinese. Next year I hope to try Spanish or Italian.

Being a Learner

Math has always been my favorite subject. I love it because it is straightforward. With focus and speed, I can tackle very complicated problems. At school, we teach each other’s favorite subjects and mine has been always math.

I like challenge and enjoy trying new things. I am a quick learner. I enjoy a wide range of subjects at school and every year. German Swiss International School in Hong Kong is a great school and has greatly helped my academic, sports and social development. From secondary school, considering Hong Kong education is getting more academic oriented, I wanted a more balanced student life with exposure to wider learning opportunities, I made a decision go to a boarding school.

Le Rosey gave me a wider variety of opportunity to learn and through the journey, I gained wider perspective, confidence and autonomy. That was a bold decision and required a lot of adjustment. Now I enjoy my school and friends, looking forward to my new adventure.
